Netherlands real estate trends
The municipality of Amsterdam will annually organize at least two tenders for the new office building in the coming years. This is a policy change because the city has been focusing on reducing the number of offices since 2011. The city councilor Grondzaken said that, as the economic trends in the Netherlands and Amsterdam, there is an increasing demand for offices, especially where public transport is available.
In the recently developed Amsterdam City Office Development Strategy, the needs for the office market changing have been identified. As a result, Amsterdam and other cities in the metropolitan economic area of Amsterdam provide development growth. In the meantime, vacant office buildings that do not meet the current standards are being rebuilt.
According to the signal from the Amsterdam city council members, market participants believe that the company will have rapid growth in Amsterdam in the coming years, as the UK and Gibraltar EU referendums. In addition to housing, it also requires the establishment of new offices in an ideal location.
Some people object to the construction of high-rise buildings in the Netherlands. Opponents say it's not suitable for the Dutch landscape, creating shade everywhere. But the pressure on the city is increasing, while the available land and space are declining. This leads us to suspect: Should the Netherlands finally get rid of the fear of height? It is time to start a public debate. Most of the current debate is within municipal administration.

Amsterdam is in great need of living and working space, especially in the A10 environment. The 12 districts (including the Old Port) in the west and northwest of the city center are the most logical location and size to meet this demand, adding 40,000 to 70,000 homes and 45,000 to 50,000 jobs. We call this project Haven-Stad. Amsterdam city has a high ambition in this area. It must be an attractive, sustainable and highly urban living area with easy access to public transport and bicycles. Other parts of the Amsterdam metropolitan area do not have the characteristics, location, size and identity of the area.
As a part of the Haven city development strategy in Amsterdam, the area around the Sloterdijk station is rapidly being transformed from a work location to a mixed work and residential area.
